The first sale of the year in Ck-On-Shannon was held on Saturday 5th February with 78 bulls on offer. Irish Angus Perpetual Cup for the Irish Angus Champion bull & Supreme champion of the sale went to Joe &
Cathal McCormack, Steil, Tulsk, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon with Steil F Windy 162, sired by Aynho Rossiter Eric B125 and out of a Drumahillan Roy Dam. This bull sold for €3600.
The Moroney Perpetual Silver Cup also went to Joe & Cathal McCormack for the best pair of Angus bulls.
Top price of the day of €4800 went to Patrick Regan, Ballyfarna, Claremorris with their first prize winning bull Loughlynn Foxy Boy, sired by Lawsons Ford Bagatelle and out of a Baronagh Euro Dam. This bull was sold to David Weir, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone.
Two sons for Chapelton Eventer E809 sold for €3050 and €2900 respectively, while another son of Lawsons Ford Bagatelle sold for €2900.
Next highest priced bull was first prize winning bull Santanna Furty sired by Black Banner X1 of Idvies and bred by Anne Shryane, Rooskey, Ballaghaderreen Co. Roscommon and sold for €2800.
A son of Coldstream Genetic Trend out of a Lissard Mark dam also soldfor €2800.
Lot number 48 Ernehill Finn bred by Francis & Noel Fitzpatrick sold for €2500, this September 2009 bull was sired by Coneyisland Legend and out of a Dalrene Cruz Dam.
David Lillie, Corrick, Ballinafad, Sligo sold a Nakked Nord son Corrick Finage for €2200, this calf was born October '09 out of a Fordel Eisenhower Dam.
Joe & Cathal McCormack's lot no 61, sired by Aynho Rossiter Eric sold for €2200, dam of this bull was sired by Steil Andrew.
Michael & Oliver Flanagan, Moydrum, Athlone sold a September '09 bull for €2050, this bull was sired by Cardona Black Star out of a Acumen Bold Leader Dam.
Cloghogue Fortune exhibited by Edmund O'Carroll, Castlebaldwin, Sligo and sired by Coneyisland Legend sold for €2000.

Buyers flocked to Carrick on Shannon for this April Sale with almost a full clearance and average price of €2350 and a top price of €5500 for a Netherton Fleurs Legacy son while a son of Jersusalem Faraday son sold for €5000. With the average price up more than one thousand when compared to last year. The Irish Angus Cattle Society offered a generous bonus of €400 each to the buyers of the top two highest priced Irish Angus bulls generating great interest in this sale, leading to a brisk trade.
The top priced Irish Angus Bulls were Clooncolligan Glorious, bred by Kevin Diffley, Clooncolligan, Bornacoola, Co. Leitrim and sold to James Keaney, Kilmactranny, Boyle, Co. Sligo. This January ’10 born bull was the Irish Angus All Ireland Junior Champion, sired by Aughnamona Pranni and out of the All Ireland Supreme Champion cow Clooncolligan Daffodil. The second highest price Irish Angus Bull was Tower Gavin Bred by Gerard Lenehan, Rathlee, Easkey, Sligo and sold to Ian Turley, Norfold, England. This January 10 bull was sired Nakkeg Nord and a Tonroe Udi Dam.
Sons of Deveron Latimer and Coldstream Genetic Trend sold for €3800 and €3300 respectively. Joseph McCormack received €3150 for Steil G Wizzle sired by Retties Dale Hogan and purchased by Trevor Bagnall, Riverstown, Co. Sligo. Joe McEllin, Mohill Co. Leitrim sold his March 2010 calf to Michael Power, Shepards Rest, Askeaton, Co. Limerick for €3050. This March calf was sired by Sunset Acres Bang and a DMM Distinction Dam. Ballyshannon Garret bred by James Morrow, Ballyshannon, Donegal sold to P. Woods, Kilfenora Co. Clare, this bull was sired by Priestown Jupiter. Lot no. 30 bred by Cathal Duignan, Eslin, Ck-On-Shannon, Co. Leitrim sold to J. Weston Geashill Co. Offaly for €2650, while Michael O’Connor’s Ballycaher Gold sold to Donal Duignan, Larkhill, Boyle Co. Roscommon for €2550 . Lot no. 51 Loughlynn Graphite, sired by Geis Gambler and bred by Patrick Regan , Ballyfarna, Claremorris, Co. Mayo sold to Andrew Rabbitte, Ballyhaunis Co. Mayo for €2550. Lot no 33 bred and exhibited by Joseph J McCormack sold to John Crawford, Inagh Co. Clare for €2550. Martin Garvey, Liscolvin Co. Roscommon sold his January '10 bull to Pat McGurn, Portinode, Co. Fermanagh, this calf sold for €2000

The Irish Angus Cattle Society offered a bonus of €200 to the purchaser of the top priced Irish Angus heifer this bonus was awared to Joe Keville, Annaduff, Ck-On-Shannon who purchased the Reserve Champion heifer for €2500. This heifer was bred and exhibited by Michael Gallagher, Lavey, Charlestown, Co. Mayo and sired by Lawsonsford Bagatelle. Champion heifer sired by Bohey Jasper sold for €2250. Seamus Prior, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim received €1700 and €1500 for twin heifers born May 2009. Lot no. 69 bred and exhibited by Pauric Gavigan, Ballyshannon, Donegal sold for €1500 while lot no 78 sold for 1500, this heifer was bred and exhibited by Anthony Dockery, Elphin Roscommon and sired by Glendara Walnut

Once again The Irish Angus Cattle Society offered a generous bonus of €400 to the buyers of the top two highest priced Irish Angus Bulls. This indeed boosted sales with a top price of €3175 being paid for Ambrose & Claire Langrell's Foxcover Farrar, this bull was sired by Jerusalem Faraday and purchased by Murtagh Kearney, Gurteen Waterford. The next highest price was for lot 82 bred and exhibited by Eamonn McKiernan, Newtown, Monasterboice, Co. Louth . This bull was sold for €3050 to Tom O'Dwyer, Cappawhite, Callan Co. Kilkenny and sired by Mountgordan Pride.
Knockmountagh Gulliver bred by Eamonn McKiernan, Monasterboice, Co. Louth sold for €2850, born 08.03.10 and sired by Netherton Fleur's Legacy.
Another Netherton Fleur's Legacy son sold for €2500 this bull was bred by Ambrose & Clare Langrell. Champion bull Cavetown Ferdinand bred and exhibited by Norman & Joy Little Cavetown, Boyle Co. Roscommon and sired by Kilkelly Belvin also sold for €2500. Michael & Oliver Flanagan's Moydrum George, born end of April 2010 sold for €2400, this calf was sired by Coneyisland Legend. Kerry and sired by Sandylane Tadgh. John P Leen’s Feb. ’10 bull sold for €2250 to Tom Barry, Mallow.
