Irish Angus Elite Sale December 2016

The  Irish Angus Cattle Society Elite Show & Sale was held in Carrick on Shannon on Saturday 10th December .Show was sponsored by Connollys Red Mills.  Judge Norman Little  tapped forward Laheens David R419 as his Male Champion,  born October 2015  and sired by Bunlahy John G  this bull was bred by Cathal Duignan, Eslin Bridge, Ck-On-Shannon, Co. Leitrim  and sold for €4100, purchased by Kenny Preston, Omagh , Co. Tyrone.

Reserve Champion bull was also  bred by Cathal Duignan, Laheen House, Eslin Bridge, Ck-On-Shannon Co. Leitrim.  Laheens Miko,  was born September  2015 and sold for €3100. This bull was also sired by Bunlahy John G and purchased by Barbara   Leavy, Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford.

Highest priced bull on the day was Lot 8  Greeve Powerhouse  bred by Hugh Fox, Kye, Elphin, Co. Roscommon and sold for €5300 and purchased by Thomas Rushe, Grallagh, Ballinagare.

Reserve Champion heifer was Carrigroe Mrs Dunbar, bred by J & F Appelbe, Carrigroe, Clonakilty Co. Cork, sired by Nightingale Dunbar  and sold for €8300 to Kenny Preston, Omagh, Co. Tyrone. This was the highest Sale Price.

Reserve Champion Heifer was Carrow Linda bred by Louis Dockery, Carrow , Elphin,Co. Roscommon. Lot 36 Tubridmore Ladybird bred and exhibited by Denis Twomey Farran, Causeway, Co. Kerry sold for €2650 to Raymond Tiernan, Termonfeckin, Co. Louth.

Westmeath and sold to Lisa Smith, Cahirmee, Doneraile, Co. Cork for €6500 which was the highest price at the Sale. This heifer was sired by Ballyshannon Eric.

Top price of the day of €3600  went to John & Cathy Farrell, Mountdillon, Curraghroe, Co. Roscommon for Lot no 12 Dillon Kevin The Second, sired by Coneyisland Legend, and out of a Ballyarden Billy cow and purchased by John Donoghue, Moylough, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.

Lot 17 Drumcrow Lamour bred and exhibited by Frank McKiernan, Lacken Lower, Ballinagh, Co. Cavan, sold for €3150 to Pat Reilly, Castletowngeoghegan, Co. Westmeath. This bull was sired by  Drumcrow Partner Perfect and out of a Rawburn Eventer Dam.

Lot 28 Aughnamona Lord Ivan bred and exhibited by Geraldine Shanley & Donal Spring, Bornacoola, Co. Leitrim sold for €2750, this bull was sired by Aughnamona Hedian and a DMM Flexor Dam.
